Thon Hotel Fagernes (formerly Quality Hotel & Resort Fagernes)
A large hotel and conference centre in the small town of Fagernes.
The hotel offers excellent playing facilities.

Groups:

     Altibox Norway Chess Qualifier
     A 4-player qualification tournament where the winner gets a spot in the super tournament
     Altibox Norway Chess 2016. The tournament is played from Wednesday 23 March to
     Saturday
26 March 2016. There will be 3 rounds of classical chess and 3 rounds of rapid
     chess.
 


   GM-group: 

A 9-round Swiss open for all players having the official titles GM, IM, FM, WGM, WIM or WFM from FIDE.
Also qualified are other male players with an official FIDE-rating of at least 2150, and other female players with an official FIDE-rating of at least 2000.
Having had the required rating on the official FIDE-list at the time of registering for the tournament will be sufficient, even if the player’s rating drops below on the last list before the tournament.
Registration limit is 20 February 2016, but later registrations might be accepted if space etc allows.

A few players with a FIDE-rating below the official limit might be accepted for the GM-group. Players interested in this possibility must send a written application to the organizer at latest 20 February 2016.


IM-group:
    Closed group with 10 players.
     Interested players with FIDE-rating above 2300 may contact the organizer at latest
    1 February 2016.  Expected rating average about 2300 and IM-norm 6 or 6.5 of 9.
    Tie-break: 1) Number of wins 2) Number of black games 3) Mutual encounter
    4) Colour in
mutual encounter (black wins).

   The Open Norwegian Championship (Elo-group):

A 9-round FIDE-rated Swiss open for all tournament players regardless of Elo.
Registration limit is 20 february 2016, but later registrations might be accepted if space etc allows. The tournament will count towards the Norwegian Grand Prix cycle (Scandic Grand Prix 2015-2016).

Fagernes Easter Blitz:
Played Saturday 26 March 2016.
A 9-round FIDE-ratet Swiss open to all players.
Played in 2 groups over/under Elo 1500.
3 minutes per game with 2 seconds increment.
Start fee: Juniors NOK 100, Others NOK 200. Free for GM/IM/WGM/WIM.
70% of the start fee will go towards prizes.
Latest registration 18.30 hrs. First round at 19.00 hrs.
The tournament will count towards the Norwegian Grand Prix cycle (Scandic Grand Prix 2015-2016).

Rate of Play:

    GM-group: Classical 2 hours in 40 moves, then 1 hour for the rest.
    IM-group: 90 minutes/40 moves + 30 minutes/rest with 30 seconds increment. 
    The Open Norwegian Championship: Same as the GM-group.
Walk-over time limit is 60 minutes after the scheduled start of each round.

Live Games:
There will be at least 16 live games.

 Evening program:
In the evenings there will be two grandmaster lectures and one blitz tournament.

Conditions for title holders:
Some very few GMs with a FIDE-rating above 2550 and reasonable travel costs, will be offered free hotel for the tournament period and food and travel expenses covered.
Interested GMs should contact the organizer as soon as possible and at latest 1 February 2016 by Email.

A few IMs and WGMs will be offered a large discount on the hotel costs for the tournament period.
